FINANCIAL YEAR 2024/25

TREASURER’S REPORT

KENDALL COMMUNITY OP SHOP INC.

FINANCIAL YEAR 2024/25

TREASURERS REPORT

Having completed fifteen years in the position of Treasurer, I am still amazed at the growth in turnover that the Op Shop continues to achieve, many a small business would be envious of these achievements.  These achievements allow the Op Shop to maintain its vision to channel our profits back to our local community through the annual grants program.  To achieve this growth, we rely heavily on two major aspects of our operations:

1. Growth in good quality donations and

2. The dedicated hard work of all our volunteers in preparing these donations for sale.

The 2024/25 Financial Year’s sales reached $404,708 an increase of 14% on our previous year and exceeding all other years.  Inflation continues to have a bearing on our Expenses, however with good management we have been able to decrease Expenses to $81,510 or by 5%.  Again, waste removal and cleaning increased by 17% and made up 39% of our running costs.  A reduction in other areas with the main contributor being repairs and maintenance offset this increase.  The installation of a bigger bin and annual increase in collection charges caused an increase in waste removal costs.

During the 2024/25 Financial Year the Op Shop funded the following Grants:

Sponsorship:                   $16,610

Charity:                            $22,000

Community:                    $287,581

Schools Wellbeing           $40,000

Flood Relief                      $37,500

Total Funds Distributed            $430,691

Total funds distributed in our 2024/25 Financial Year was a record and up 63% on the previous year.  Our Grants Program was introduced in 2009; and since then, we have allocated $2,202,197 in all sectors of the program.

Funds on hand at present total $ 336,623 which will give us another great pool of funds for this year’s grants program.
