KENDALL COMMUNITY OP-SHOP INC
FINANCIAL YEAR 2023/24
TREASURER’S REPORT
What a Financial Year for the Op-shop and our Volunteers. 2023/24 Financial Year showed another
great improvement, I often wonder when we will move out of the growth stage, the way it’s looking this
may never happen.
The Financial Year’s sales reached $351,182 which was an increase of $93,997 equalling 27% over our
previous year. Rag Sales amounting to $1,482. One Ten income increased to $2,939, they doubled
the amount paid per kilo at the beginning of 2024. Expenses increased to $66,553, as we all know
inflation and the general cost of living has greatly increased which in turn had a bearing on our expenses.
We also carried out several repairs and maintenance projects, both improving our presentation and
operations. Waste Removal and Cleaning again are our major operational costs totalling $27,375, waste removal costs increased on
1 July, landfill up by 15% and recycling up by 7.5%.
During the 2023/24 Financial Year the Op Shop funded the following:
Sponsorship: $22,871
Charity Grants $18,000
Community Grants $192,820
Schools Wellbeing Grants $31,500
Grant applications received for 2024 totalled 29 and amounted to $327,168 our highest number and value received to date. The successful applications in value also set a record.
School Wellbeing Grants were introduced in 2024 with 10 local schools receiving $3K each to assist families in need with funding for such things as school uniforms, excursions and swimming lessons. Schools had to justify how they would allocate the funds prior to it being received. This has been very well received by the schools and a very worthwhile aspect of our grants program.
Our Grant program was introduced in 2009, and we now have allocated $1,799,102 in all sectors of our program. Hopefully our 2025 Grants program will see a wonderful milestone reached with more than $2M being allocated.
It is through the tireless undertakings of our many wonderful volunteers that allow us to once again achieve these great results that gives us the ability to assist a great number of worthwhile projects throughout our local government area.
